NBA Top Shot Collectibles Launches on OpenSea
NBA Top Shot, the project that blends basketball and non-fungibility, has officially launched on the popular NFT marketplace, OpenSea. The development team behind the basketball-themed project also showed users how to bridge their Moments, as NBA Top Shot calls its digital collectibles, from Dapper Wallet to OpenSea.
Launched in October 2020 by the NBA, the NBA Players Association, and Dapper Labs, the NBA Top Shot project blurred the boundaries between basketball fans and their favorite players by bringing the experience of basketball trading cards into the NFT market. The project allows users to claim key “Moments” from the court game on the layer-1 Flow blockchain. Each Moment portrays digital videos in packs, whereby buyers cannot know what clip is within until after purchase.
Following its debut on OpenSea, the NFT marketplace allows users to buy, sell, and trade their desired Moments from the NBA Top Shot project. According to public data on OpenSea, over 6,420 items are available on the NFT marketplace, with creators’ earnings pegged at 5%. These NFTs have a floor price of 1.2 FLOW (currently worth $0.525). The marketplace has also generated a total traded volume of 22,900 FLOW (worth over $10,000).
Highlighting some perks about these Moments, the project’s description on OpenSea stated:
“Use your collectibles to play in nightly mini games, compete to win exclusive rewards like NBA tickets, meet and greets with NBA legends, and even more.”
Various crypto-focused platforms have shown their support for NBA Top Shot’s integration with OpenSea. One such platform is the cross-chain payment solution Relay Protocol. The platform opened its doors for users to acquire NBA-licensed digital collectibles via OS2, OpenSea’s upgraded marketplace, which was in beta as of January 2025.
Shortly after the token’s debut, OpenSea’s founder, Devin Finzer, showcased how he bought a Moment via the layer-2 Base network on OS2 “for a few bucks.” He used this to stress the NFT marketplace’s smooth cross-chain user experience.
Launching NBA Top Shot collectibles on OpenSea will enable the basketball-themed project to tap into the marketplace’s large user base. It will also enable OpenSea to grow its ecosystem and expand its operations into the Flow blockchain.
