Ronin Network Launches Bird-Inspired Mini-Game, Flappy Axie

The gaming blockchain, Ronin Network, has unveiled a new mini-game for its users. This one is inspired by the classic Flappy Bird, and is named Flappy Axie.

According to an announcement from the Ronin team, Flappy Axie is the first mini-game in the network’s first Arcade Offseason. The offseason comes after the conclusion of Ronin’s Season 1, which saw participation from more than 30,000 players.

With the offseason considered a testing ground between Ronin Arcade seasons, users can get used to new mini-games in a no-pressure environment. Flappy Axie is still in its early alpha version, so Ronin will reset leaderboards and scores when Season 2 of the Arcade launches. The network will gather insights and improve Flappy Axie’s mechanics during the offseason, utilizing user feedback to shape the final version.

Although player progress will reset upon the launch of Season 2, users will have picked up and sharpened new skills, enabling them to dominate when the competition becomes fierce. They would learn the physics of the game and how hitboxes work, and build muscle memory to make their reactions automatic and swift.

To play Flappy Axie, users have to tap the game to flap their axie wings, avoid obstacles, and accrue points. So, the focus is on navigating the axie through an obstacle course without letting it crash. Players score higher points the further their axies fly.

Notably, Ronin gives players three free coins daily. Each coin contains 3 Energy – a player needs 1 Energy to attempt the game. With 3 free coins, players have 9 Energy per day, meaning they can try the game 9 times every day.

As the Ronin team works to fix bugs and implement improvements in Flappy Axie, they are building the Arcade into a central engagement hub. The vision is evolving from quick mini-games to full-fledged titles in an ecosystem that will be considered a home for every type of gamer.

“We see the Arcade as the central engagement hub for Ronin. It’s a place to draw in new players with easy-to-pick-up mini-games, and guide them to explore the wider ecosystem through quests. It’s also a stage for experienced Ronin gamers to prove their skills by climbing the leaderboard,” the team added.

Meanwhile, Ronin Network is adopting a “launch fast and iterate often” approach for building the Arcade. This means there will be multiple releases of quick-test versions of games in the coming months. Stay tuned for more updates as the games roll out!
